Second Meeting of the Commandant's Office Takes Place
On March 18, the second meeting of the Commandant's Office took place under the leadership of RA Commandant Tigran Avinyan. Tigran Avinyan stated, "Dear colleagues, today we are holding the second gathering of the Commandant's Office. We will mainly discuss the current situation as well as the progress of the recommendations that have already been given. You know that two days ago, a state of emergency was declared and restrictions have been applied throughout the territory of Armenia regarding gatherings, particularly weddings, engagements, and even funerals. We must also assess the effectiveness of those restrictions. I believe that every governor should monitor the activities being carried out in their respective regions and communities.
We will, of course, hear Mr. Torosyan regarding the preventive measures being implemented against the spread of the coronavirus, and we will also consider new proposals that we will discuss and make corresponding decisions on."
Subsequently, the Minister of Health presented the latest developments in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus and updated statistics. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the organization of disinfection work of vehicles operating on public transportation routes as per the commandant's directive, as well as the disinfection of bus stations and the Yerevan metro.
Preventive actions in large commercial facilities operating in closed spaces were also addressed. The commandant emphasized that employees in these facilities must be provided with medical masks and disinfectants, that the areas must be regularly disinfected and sanitary requirements must be maintained, and that crowding should be avoided.
Monitoring the implementation of the commandant's directives in the regions has been placed under the responsibility of the governors, while in Yerevan, it is under the responsibility of the mayor. The commandant also urged the meeting participants to encourage the delivery of services to the public via electronic management tools during the state of emergency and to ensure awareness about these options.
