What is the Situation in Iran: 129 Deaths Recorded in 24 Hours
In the last 24 hours, RegionMonitor has summarized the situation regarding the spread of coronavirus in Iran as follows:
- The number of infected individuals has increased by 1053, reaching a total of 14,991.
- There have been 129 reported deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 853.
- The number of recovered patients has increased by 406, totaling 4,996.
- In the last 24 hours, the virus has spread the most in Tehran (200 cases) and Isfahan (118 cases). Other provinces have reported double-digit figures, while seven provinces have recorded single-digit numbers.
- In the Eastern Azerbaijan province, bordering Armenia, 35 new cases have been registered, compared to 36 yesterday.
- In the virus hotspot of Qom, there has been a decrease, with 19 cases reported today, down from 84 yesterday.
- To reduce hospital visits and protect healthy citizens from the risk of COVID-19 infection, Iran has launched the website salamat.gov.ir. Citizens can access the website and fill out their personal information. After logging into the system, they complete a questionnaire. Based on the responses, the system indicates whether the individual shows symptoms of coronavirus. If symptoms are indicated, the relevant hospital will contact the citizen and provide instructions. Citizens can only access the system and fill out their information once per day.
- Iranian police have arrested over twenty citizens in various provinces for disseminating false information and videos about the spread of coronavirus on social media.
- Recently, different users on social media have claimed that alcohol helps prevent infections. In the past few days, alcohol consumption has resulted in 134 deaths and 1,021 poisonings in Iran. Iranian television stations are now disseminating social media clips advising citizens to refrain from alcohol consumption.
- Cash payments have also been banned at gas stations; payments must be made via transfer or by card.
