Russia Closes Border with Belarus
The Russian government has decided to close its border with Belarus due to the coronavirus outbreak in order to suspend movement of people. According to Interfax, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced this decision. The Prime Minister noted that Russia is closing its borders as part of efforts to combat the coronavirus.
As a result, two of Russia's 14 land borders will remain open, one with Azerbaijan and the other with Finland. It is worth mentioning that by an order from President Vladimir Putin, a working group was established yesterday, on March 15, to combat the spread of the coronavirus, headed by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.
According to the latest data, the number of coronavirus infections in Russia has reached 64, while Belarus has reported the virus in 27 of its citizens.
