The President of the Republic and the Mayor of Yerevan Have Not Left the Country

Inaccurate information continues to circulate on the internet regarding various officials leaving the country. This time, the discussions have centered around the President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian. There have been posts in the media sphere claiming that he has left the country under emergency circumstances.

According to Armenpress, the Information Verification Center contacted the President's Office to verify this information. They confirmed that Armen Sarkissian has not left the country and is currently in his office.

For several days, it was also rumored that Yerevan's Mayor Hayk Marutyan had left Armenia following the panic-driven sentiments. This news was also denied. Mayor Marutyan stated that he has not been absent from the country throughout 2020 and that reports of his dual citizenship are false. He also issued a statement regarding the state of emergency.
