Teghut Employees Forced into Unpaid Leave: Irates
The newspaper Irates reports: "Teghut LLC has not operated for more than ten days. Both mine and factory employees have been forced into unpaid leave, and it is still unclear when they will return to work. An informant from Irates disclosed that the businessman Nork Petrosyan, who took over the management of the mine, had a meeting with the heads of various departments of the factory days ago and expressed dissatisfaction with their work.
Petrosyan reportedly had a heated conversation with the executive director Karen Ghazaryan, after which Ghazaryan left and has not returned to work. It is unclear whether he submitted a resignation or simply got upset and decided to take time off," said our source.
According to information obtained by Irates, Petrosyan's dissatisfaction is related to the unresolved issue of the Teghut mine's tailings dam. It should be noted that the mine's previous operator, Vallex Company, had halted operations due to the tailings dam wall issue, which experts believe may not withstand large volumes and could collapse, leading to irreparable consequences.
"The tailings have a clay base, which complicates water purification and evaporation processes. Therefore, a considerably larger volume of tailings remains in the dam than planned. In other words, the dam is 'becoming heavier.' It is still unclear when the factory will resume operations, but people have already fallen into panic. They say they have become unemployed a second time. They don’t know whom to trust," noted our informant.
