Number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Armenia reaches 64
Armenia has recorded 12 new cases of coronavirus infection. This was reported by Alina Nikoghosyan, spokesperson for the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia. “As of March 17, at 12:00, testing for coronavirus disease has confirmed another 12 cases, of which 6 are related to the Ejmiatsin case, while the remaining 6 are linked to a production facility. The latter were initially isolated. In total, we currently have 64 confirmed cases, of which 1 has recovered,” stated Nikoghosyan.
The Government of the Republic of Armenia has decided to declare a state of emergency in Armenia. The decision was made during the executive's meeting on March 16, taking into account the spread of the new type of coronavirus around the world and in Armenia, as well as its classification as a pandemic by the World Health Organization. “A state of emergency is declared throughout the territory of the Republic of Armenia from 18:30 on March 16, 2020, until 17:00 on April 14, 2020,” is mentioned in the draft decision of the government.
