Live: The Government Session Has Begun, Agenda Includes Declaring a State of Emergency

The Armenian government has convened an extraordinary session, with the agenda focusing on the question of declaring a state of emergency. Earlier today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a live broadcast that the government would discuss the introduction of a state of emergency in the Republic aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus.

“If the government decides to declare a state of emergency, today’s discussion generally seemed to lean towards making that decision. A detailed conversation will take place at the government session, many details will be clarified, after which an extraordinary session of the National Assembly will be convened where we will answer the questions from deputies. You will also have the opportunity to respond to criticisms,” he emphasized, adding, “It seems we will make the decision on the state of emergency, which will aim at preventing the spread of the coronavirus.”
