Kazakhstan Declares State of Emergency. Entry of Armenian Citizens Will Be Restricted

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan has declared a state of emergency starting from March 16 at 08:00, in order to ensure the safety of the Kazakh population and to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The state of emergency will remain in effect until April 15 at 07:00, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

Starting from March 16, the entry of foreigners, including Armenian citizens, into the territory of Kazakhstan via all means of transportation will be temporarily restricted. However, this restriction will not apply to Armenian citizens returning from Kazakhstan.

The mentioned restriction will not apply to stateless persons and the following categories of foreigners: diplomatic personnel from Kazakhstan and other countries and their family members, members of foreign and international delegations arriving in Kazakhstan at the invitation of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, persons with residency documents in Kazakhstan, and foreign family members of Kazakh citizens.

The Armenian Embassy has established a 24-hour hotline at +7 778 229 1881, which is also available via WhatsApp. It is important to note that there have been 9 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Kazakhstan.
