The Armenian Diaspora Fund Sends Large Shipment of Medical Supplies to Armenia

The Western Region Office of the Armenia Fund in the United States has responded to the request from the Armenian Ministry of Health and the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs by sending a large quantity of medical supplies to Armenia. This was announced by the Armenia Fund.

The initiative was made possible through close cooperation with the Chevy Chase Surgery Center and the Armenian Relief Organization. In order to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and to make the situation manageable in case of an outbreak, a substantial shipment of preventive, protective, and disinfectant medical supplies has been sent to Armenia. This includes medical protective clothing, face respirator masks, special bottles for disinfectant liquids, disinfectants, protective goggles, digital thermometers, and other equipment.

The first case of coronavirus was recorded in Armenia on February 28, and to date, a total of 6 cases have been reported. It is worth noting that the World Health Organization has declared the coronavirus a global pandemic. The Ministry of Health is implementing appropriate measures to prevent the possible spread of the virus in Armenia.

“We are pleased with our ongoing effective cooperation with the Ministry of Health. Thanks to the efforts of our local body in the western United States, we were able to ensure the timely entry of necessary supplies into Armenia,” said Haykak Arshamyan, Executive Director of the Armenia Fund.

The fund is actively implementing numerous health care projects. Every year, a medical mission from the U.S. visits Armenia and Artsakh, carrying out various surgeries, consultations, as well as equipping local health centers with modern equipment and medications. The fund also operates an online platform for the 'Healthy Armenia' fundraising campaign, aimed at providing high-quality medical services to remote communities in Armenia, thereby promoting rural health care.
