If Necessary, We Will Review the Holidays on March 18: Torosyan

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, a consultation took place at the government where the measures aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus in the Republic of Armenia were discussed. Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan presented current statistical data regarding the spread of the coronavirus in Armenia, as well as worldwide and in the region.

According to him, six people in our country have been infected with the coronavirus, with five of them feeling well and showing no serious symptoms. One individual is experiencing pneumonia; however, no deterioration in health has been recorded.

The minister noted that since yesterday, appropriate steps have been taken to identify and isolate those who were in contact with infected individuals.

He added that there is no deficit of medication and medical supplies in the state, and there is also a stockpile of necessary masks that healthcare institutions are receiving. At the same time, it was mentioned that efforts are being made to import new batches of masks.

Torosyan emphasized that there is no need to wear masks in the streets, as they are required only for those who show symptoms of the disease and those who are in contact with the patient.

He informed that today, those compatriots who were isolated on March 1 will be tested, and there is a high probability that the results will be negative, meaning that they will not be diagnosed with coronavirus.

During the consultation, sectoral works against the coronavirus and further steps were discussed. It was decided to suspend the activities of kindergartens, schools, and universities until March 23.

“On March 18-19, we will revisit the issue, and if necessary, we will extend the deadline again,” Torosyan stated.
