Forest Ranger Cuts Off the Ear of a Resident in Gandzakhar Village

On March 11, 2020, a resident of Gandzakhar village in the Tavush region reported to the Ijevan division of the Police that on the same day, around 8:30 PM, a forest ranger had assaulted him in their village area, hitting him with an axe and severing his ear in front of the church at the end of the village.

This information was provided by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Tavush regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee under Article 113, Part 2, Point 6 of the RA Criminal Code (Causing medium-health damage with intent).

According to the data obtained during the pre-investigation, on March 11, 2020, around 8:30 PM, the victim, while near the church in the same village, made a remark to the forest ranger, who was shouting obscenities and insults in the churchyard. The ranger took the remark aggressively, insulted the victim, and threw him to the ground. Then, when the victim got up, the forest ranger struck his right ear with an axe, severing it.

Measures are being taken to find the person suspected of committing the crime.
