Shushan Stepanyan Appointed as Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of Armenia

By the order of the Minister of Defense David Tonoyan, Shushan Stepanyan has been appointed as the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

Shushan Shaheni Stepanyan holds the military rank of Major. She was born on August 8, 1988, in the city of Hadrut. From 1995 to 2005, she studied at and graduated with honors from the secondary school named after M. Manvelyan in Hadrut.

From 2005 to 2009, she studied at the Faculty of Journalism of Yerevan State University, graduating with excellent academic performance. From 2007 to 2009, she worked at the electronic publication "Hetq" as an investigative journalist.

In 2009, she was enrolled in contracted military service as a correspondent for the military-political information and servicemen’s ideological department of the Ministry of Defense’s newspaper, "Hay Zinvord." From 2013, she worked for the same newspaper’s culture and public relations department.

Between 2015 and 2016, she served as the editor of the operational activities coverage division of the same newspaper's editorial office. In 2017, she became the head of the same division.

In 2018, she was a correspondent for the press department of the state institution "Zinuj Media." Since 2019, she has been serving in the Armed Forces of Armenia.

In 2009, she was recognized as a winner in a training competition in investigative journalism organized by the European Journalism Centre and underwent training in the Netherlands. In 2014, she received further training at the German Armed Forces' Academy for Information and Communication.

She has been awarded several honors, including the "20 Years of the RA Armed Forces," "C.H.S. Isakov," first-degree "Exemplary Service," and the "Marshal Baghramyan" medals, along with various certificates of appreciation.

Her father, Shahen Stepanyan, was an active participant in the Nagorno-Karabakh War and was posthumously awarded the "Combat Cross" second degree by the Republic of Artsakh.
