Nurse from Ejmiadzin School Sent Home After Attending Engagement Ceremony Involving COVID-19 Patient
The nurse, Arevik Hovhannisyan, from Kh. Abovyan Comprehensive School No. 4 in Vagharshapat attended an engagement ceremony on March 8, where a 45-year-old man diagnosed with coronavirus was present the day before.
The school principal, Arusyak Muradyan, told NEWS.am that this morning she sent the nurse home. "We have two nurses, and the one who attended the engagement ceremony I sent home immediately as she arrived at the entrance," she said.
However, after attending the engagement, the nurse continued to come to school for three days, interacting with students and staff. "Neither she was aware of it, nor were we. Naturally, we have reason to be concerned now," said the principal.
Astghik Harutyun, the principal of Vagharshapat School No. 1, also reported that two students from their school who attended the engagement ceremony came to school this morning but were sent home.
It is noteworthy that three new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Armenia the day before, bringing the total number of infected individuals to four. The scope of their contacts is still being determined. The condition of the infected individuals is stable, although pneumonia has been diagnosed in the 45-year-old man.
