COVID-19 Prevention Efforts Summarized in Artsakh

The State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Grigori Martirosyan, along with Health Minister Arayik Baghryan, discussed the progress of COVID-19 prevention efforts and future plans on March 12. The State Minister inquired about the status of the measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus and the degree of material and technical support provided.

According to operational data presented by Minister Baghryan, no cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the republic to date. “So far, about 40 samples have been sent to Armenia for testing, and all responses have been negative. I also want to inform you that discussions are being organized as part of the efforts to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, maintaining constant contact with our partners in Armenia. Within the framework of the comprehensive measures taken, all medical institutions have been supplied with both disposable supplies and disinfectants, as well as laser thermometers. Two checkpoints in Artsakh have also been equipped with laser thermometers,” the Health Minister noted.

The State Minister added that earlier, the government reached an agreement with two local companies to produce protective masks if necessary, which, according to the Health Minister’s assessment, comply with the established medical standards and are distributed according to distribution lists for additional use.

Speaking about acute respiratory infections in the republic, Minister Baghryan stated that the incidence of these diseases in all healthcare facilities has decreased, which is also evident from the ongoing monitoring carried out in preschool and general educational institutions.

At the end of the meeting, G. Martirosyan urged Artsakh citizens to avoid foreign visits and business trips, except in cases of urgent necessity.
