7 Reports of Apparent Crimes Received During the Election Campaign in Artsakh

In a bid to ensure compliance with the legal norms during the election campaign, a working group created by the acting prosecutor general of Artsakh has registered and sent information pertaining to 7 reports of apparent crimes to the relevant investigative bodies for further processing. This information comes from the Artsakh Prosecutor's Office.

During the pre-election campaign for the scheduled national elections in Artsakh on March 31, 2020, a monitoring of mass media was conducted to identify possible electoral violations, register inquiries and reports from participants in the electoral process, and organize discussions on these matters in the shortest possible time. From February 26 to March 12, 2020, the working group registered 7 reports containing information regarding apparent criminal characteristics, of which 6 are under discussion, while information concerning the 1 reported alleged crime has been disproved upon verification.

Three applications have been submitted by individuals, two of which have had materials prepared and sent to the territorial electoral commissions to discuss the initiation of administrative proceedings against those who allegedly committed administrative violations, while one is still under verification.

Reports regarding violations of the procedure for posting campaign posters in several communities have been forwarded to the heads of the respective communities and the Central Electoral Commission from a citizen's complaint made via the prosecutor's hotline, 99-01, with a request to investigate the issues raised and take necessary measures.
