Today I Will Visit the Village of Kourtan: I Have Good News to Share, Sipan Pashinyan
Member of the National Assembly from the "My Step" faction, Sipan Pashinyan, nephew of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, announced on his Facebook page that he will visit the village of Kourtan to meet with a family whose son, Mekhak, was publicly admonished by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a live broadcast for not working.
“Dear compatriots, today I will visit a socially disadvantaged family in the village of Kourtan to share good news; I will provide more details later,” wrote the MP.
In an interview with News.am, 34-year-old Mekhak Arakelyan, who lives in Kourtan village in the Lori Province, shared that he has been unable to work for several years due to health problems.
During the live broadcast on March 7, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan urged Mekhak to find work and create a home: “If a healthy man comes and says, ‘Prime Minister, I do not have a house,’ I also did not have a house. Where did I create my house from? I worked 24 hours a day and created my home. You should also make an effort, work, earn an income, and create your home. Should the Prime Minister create your home? Furthermore, we have introduced a mortgage program for young families; who do you expect to solve your housing and food issues?” he said. “I’m not saying I built palaces; in the third part of my life, I created a 3-room apartment for myself. Go work and solve your family’s issues,” he added.
