Resident of Odzun Village Suffers Gunshot Wound: Details

On March 9, 2020, at 17:00, the Alaverdi Medical Center notified the Tumanyan Division of the Police about a resident from Odzun village, Lori Province, who had been admitted with a "gunshot wound to the right thigh, multiple fractures of the right femur" diagnosis. The individual reported hearing an explosion, after which they felt pain in their thigh.

On the same day, the Tumanyan Investigation Division of the Lori Regional Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Article 112 of the RA Criminal Code (causing serious harm to health intentionally) and Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of weapons, military supplies, explosives, or explosive devices).

During the preliminary investigation, information was obtained indicating that around 16:30 on March 9, 2020, an individual allegedly committed a crime in a garden adjacent to Sayat Nova Square in Alaverdi city, intentionally causing bodily harm by firing a weapon they had acquired illegally at the resident of Odzun village, resulting in serious bodily harm.

A search conducted in a partially collapsed building near the crime scene revealed a "Makarov" type firearm without a factory number, containing four cartridges. The investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the incident and to identify the alleged perpetrator.
