Part of the Renovation Works at Yeghvard Maternity Hospital Will Be Funded by Its Own Savings, Says Governor
The Yeghvard Maternity Hospital will not close; it will continue to operate, and renovations and upgrades are planned. Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan stated this during a press conference at the Armenpress press hall.
“The surveying work on the hospital building has already been completed. We will renovate the maternity ward, the rendering room, the women’s consultation department, and the entire lobby according to modern standards, and we will equip it with complete furnishings. Soon, a tender will be announced in accordance with the law, and a construction company will be selected; the work will begin after signing a contract with the contractor,” Romanos Petrosyan said.
The governor also informed that part of the funding for the works will come from its own savings. They will also seek assistance from philanthropists and our compatriots in the diaspora, particularly for the acquisition of specific equipment.
It is worth noting that earlier this year, on January 13, employees of the Yeghvard Maternity Hospital staged a protest in the hospital yard. The cause of the protest was a decision by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia, which ceased funding for several regional medical institutions, resulting in the closure of various regional maternity hospitals.
