Life of Pregnant Woman Transported to Yerevan by Helicopter Saved
A pregnant woman, 13 weeks along, faced a sudden decline in her health while being transported from Alaverdi to Yerevan for a scheduled examination at "Erebuni" Medical Center. Her relatives contacted her obstetrician-gynecologist, Norayr Gukasyan, at "Erebuni" Medical Center, and it was decided to immediately transfer her to the nearest healthcare facility.
After the initial examination at the regional medical center, she was diagnosed with placental abruption, severe bleeding, and it was determined that she needed to be transferred immediately to a level three maternity hospital. However, the long distance of the journey posed serious risks not only for the preservation of the pregnancy but also for the woman's life, as she had existing health issues.
The resuscitation team of "Erebuni" Medical Center, led by Zina Lskavyan and Aram Vardanyan, immediately took off by helicopter to Lori. During the transport, the pregnant woman received oxygen therapy and infusion therapy, while her hemodynamic data were monitored. The flight lasted 25 minutes, and she was promptly moved to the maternity ward of "Erebuni" Medical Center.
After a discussion with Andranik Poghosyan, the deputy director for obstetrics at "Erebuni," it was decided to implement pregnancy-preserving therapy. A healthy baby boy was born.
