Guardianship of 13-Year-Old Girl Beaten in Gyumri to be Discussed After Relatives' Final Decision
The Guardianship and Curatorship Commission of Gyumri reviewed the case of a 13-year-old girl and her brother, who were brutally beaten, on March 10, recognizing them as children left without parental care. Following this decision, the children will be eligible to receive the legally prescribed pension funds.
The issue of guardianship for the girl was not discussed at this meeting, although one application for guardianship has been received. The matter will only be addressed after a final decision from the relatives.
“We have postponed the issue of guardianship for now and will wait for the relatives’ feedback. By the way, we have yet to receive a response from them, and if we do not hear back, we will address the guardianship application,” said Edward Baghramyan, the head of the Guardianship and Curatorship Commission, emphasizing the importance of the brother's guardianship as well.
“Right now, we are talking a lot about the girl, but let’s not forget that the boy is also a minor, turning 18 in September, and he has his own issues at this moment. It is possible that after turning 18, he may express a desire to become a guardian himself, but for now, we cannot say anything definitive,” clarified Edward Baghramyan.
The boy had traveled to Russia to stay with his aunt during his mother’s lifetime and with her permission, but the aunt has not yet applied for guardianship of the boy.
