Liberation Square to be Renovated: Plans to Dismantle Asphalt and Construct Paving
The Yerevan Municipality is ready to pay 3 million drams to the person who presents a project for the restoration and improvement of the surrounding area of Liberation Square. The mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, announced the open competition on his Facebook page.
"One of the objectives of the competition is to create an aesthetically appealing environment in this urban recreational area, establishing a sustainable and comfortable space for citizens' relaxation, and securing it as an area free from further capital developments and interventions," Marutyan wrote.
The idea is based on creating an ecologically improved landscape that aligns with the historical core of our city, contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage, as well as enhancing the tourism attractiveness of the area. The decision to hold a competition was made by the Mayor of Yerevan on March 5.
According to the decision, the review, evaluation, and acceptance of proposals submitted for the competition will be conducted through a confidential process, and only after determining the winner will their identity be revealed.
As a prerequisite for the competitive work, the municipality insists on dismantling the asphalt covering of Liberation Square and replacing it with paving stones.
Additionally, it is proposed to design pedestrian crossings and walkways in green areas, ensuring that the green coverage is maximized. Accessibility for groups with disabilities must also be ensured in the area.
