Upcoming Large-Scale Military Exercises Expected in Armenia

According to the "Hayastani Hanrapetutyun" newspaper, upcoming large-scale military exercises are expected in Armenia, during which we may see the capabilities of the new modern multifunctional fighter jets of the "SU-30SM" model being demonstrated with potential combat training applications.

This was stated in an interview with the newspaper by the spokesperson for the Armenian Minister of Defense and military expert Artur Hovhannisyan. He noted, "During major exercises, when live fire is involved, heavy equipment is also used, including missiles. Such exercises may also involve the use of 'SU-30SM' fighter jets. By the way, I am referring to specific combat exercises, which have no relation to 'Shant'. 'Shant' does not involve large-scale combat fire; it is a tactical, command-staff exercise,” clarified Hovhannisyan.

The first batch of "SU-30SM" fighter jets arrived in Armenia last December. As Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted, this acquisition is of pivotal importance for the security of the Republic of Armenia and the safety of its people.
