Ukraine Appoints New Defense Minister
The Ukrainian parliament has appointed a new Minister of Defense for the country. Reserve Lieutenant General Andriy Taran, who previously headed the Kyiv representation of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Ceasefire in Donbas.
On Wednesday, 285 lawmakers voted in favor of the appointment during an extraordinary session, surpassing the required minimum of 226 votes.
Taran was born on March 4, 1955, in Germany, into a military family.
