‘Haykakan Jamanak’: ‘Well, that doesn’t concern me, I’m a special guy’ – Hovik Aghazaryan

‘Haykakan Jamanak’ reports: ‘Yesterday, the “My Step” coalition was in shock as the ruling party allocated 3 million drams for a logo that turned out to be a copy, indistinguishable from the logo used in the 1991 referendum. ‘It was an awkward situation,’ said MP Hovik Aghazaryan, dejectedly. ‘Are you convinced that almost all issues in the ruling party are handled with such carelessness?’

‘I am not aware of how they were selected. Who selected them? ‘The headquarters, the KP administration, of which I am not a member. And then, what was supposed to be checked? It’s hard to think immediately that it could be forged. One should simply know about this; otherwise, how could they suspect?’

‘Do you see, if experienced elders had not been removed from the administration, perhaps this wouldn’t have happened.’ Aghazaryan joked, ‘I might have remembered.’

‘And what decision will be made – is it possible to refuse the logo, hold a new competition, hold those responsible accountable for deceiving you, reclaim the funds?’ ‘We need to talk to the author; perhaps it wasn’t stolen intentionally, maybe it happened mechanically. But finding the author from 1991 is, I think, the most important thing.’

‘Why, is it possible to transfer the money to them?’ ‘I can’t say yet; we still need to talk.’ In Aghazaryan's opinion, one shouldn’t dramatize the entire situation. ‘Yes, on one hand, it was an awkward situation, but on the other hand, it’s symbolic; it’s a logical continuation of the 1991 referendum.’

‘How so?’ ‘Well, independence, you know, is not just about becoming independent from enemies; first and foremost, you must become independent from yourself, not be constrained by anything.’

‘Now you’re not independent; who is constraining you?’ ‘Well, that doesn’t concern me, I’m a special guy.’ And who? ‘I can’t say—no, how could they be constrained? Let’s admit, it’s symbolic.’

‘And could maybe the “traitors” have tried you, on how “genetically” connected you are to the powers of the 90s?’ ‘That’s out of the question.’
