Vice Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian Meets with CSTO Secretary General
The Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian, met on February 27 with the Secretary General of the CSTO, Stanislav Zas, who is in Armenia on a working visit. This was reported by the press service of the National Assembly.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan and Armenia’s representative to the CSTO, Viktor Biagov.
Vice Speaker Simonian congratulated Stanislav Zas on his appointment as CSTO Secretary General, noting that the CSTO is one of the most important elements of Armenia’s security system, and that Armenia is interested in the effective functioning of this organization. According to him, the activities of the CSTO should contribute to maintaining balance and peace in the region.
Simonain emphasized the importance of last year’s meetings of the CSTO Council and the CSTO PA plenary session held in Yerevan. He noted that Armenia’s delegation is actively working in the CSTO PA, directing its efforts towards improving relationships.
Stanislav Zas expressed gratitude for the warm welcome in the National Assembly and for the congratulations, and demonstrated a willingness to collaborate. The interlocutors also discussed issues related to cooperation within the framework of the CSTO.
