I Had Announced That I Would Gradually Reveal the Details. Now I Am Opening Up. Amram Makinyan on the Accusations Against Serge Sargsyan
We continue to maintain that the prosecutor in the case has not approached the investigation impartially. This was stated by Amram Makinyan, the lawyer of Armenia's third president Serge Sargsyan, during a conversation with journalists, referring to the rejection of the motion to disqualify the prosecuting prosecutor Arsen Martirosyan by Judge Vahe Misakyan of the court of general jurisdiction.
Makinyan emphasized that there is no evidence in the case; rather, there are serious issues. The matter concerns the activities of the organization. The company participated in a tender and made a price offer of 420 drams, while during that year it procured hundreds of tons at much higher prices of 440-460 drams.
How could the company supply diesel fuel at 420 drams to every community across the country, given that transport costs need to be included in that price?
Makinyan also noted that he had inquired with the Statistical Committee of Armenia regarding the price of diesel fuel in 2013. “They only provided us with retail prices, which were in the 465-467 dram range. However, in the case of wholesale, the price should have been higher, as it is not an individual who goes and brings the fuel, but rather the company that brings it to their location, which increases the cost further. I had announced that I would gradually reveal the details; now I declare that in 2013 the price of diesel fuel was 457-460 drams. This means that the company proposed a price that could not be realized, indicating that an unrealistic price was offered,” said Makinyan.
