37 People Hospitalized in Armenia with Suspected Coronavirus, Head of Health Inspectorate

The head of the Health and Labor Inspectorate, Hakob Avagyan, spoke on the "Perspective" program broadcasted by Shant TV about the efforts being made to prevent the penetration of the new coronavirus into Armenia.

"We not only check the temperature of arriving individuals, but we also conduct external examinations aside from remote thermometers. A person may not have a fever or may have intentionally taken medication to lower it, but there are always symptoms that can be recognized. Obvious symptoms can be identified," Avagyan stated.

According to the head of the Health and Labor Inspectorate, additional measures are also being implemented. "We cooperate with the National Security Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when we anticipate that passengers from high-risk countries will arrive; we fill out address cards for them in advance. Since January 24, we have filled out 1,271 address cards, of which 36 have been hospitalized from the border control points. The majority are from Zvartnots Airport, while the second highest is from Bagratashen," he added.

Regarding the Meghri checkpoint, only one hospitalization has been recorded from there; the individual is an Armenian citizen involved in trade, and it was later determined at the hospital that they were not infected with the coronavirus.
