Prosecutor's Decision on Exclusion Motion in Serzh Sargsyan Case to Be Announced on February 26

In the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, Judge Vahe Misakyan has entered the deliberation room to make a decision regarding the prosecutor's motion for exclusion in the case of third President Serzh Sargsyan. The decision will be published on February 26 at 15:00.

It is noteworthy that within the framework of the case, charges have been brought against Serzh Sargsyan, Vahagn Beglaryan, Samvel Galstyan, and Gevorg Harutyunyan under part 3, point 1 of Article 38-179 of the RA Criminal Code (organizing, inciting, or aiding in embezzlement or misappropriation in especially large amounts), while Serge Karapetyan is charged under part 3, point 1 of Article 179 (embezzlement or misappropriation in especially large amounts).

According to the NSS message, during the period from January 25 to February 7, 2013, under the organization of Serzh Sargsyan and with the incitement of Vahagn Beglaryan, aided by Samvel Galstyan and Gevorg Harutyunyan, Serge Karapetyan misappropriated a substantial sum of 489 million AMD allocated from the state reserve fund for the subsidization of 15,391,765 liters of diesel fuel intended for the implementation of state support programs.

Serzh Sargsyan does not accept the charges brought against him. His defense lawyer Amram Makinyan argues that the indictment is fabricated. It should also be noted that on the day the trial began, the Republican Party of Armenia issued a statement claiming that the case is directed and ordered, with political motives behind it.
