Major and Tragic Accident in Kapan

On February 20, at 21:40, the National Crisis Management Center received a report of a traffic accident in Kapan, Syunik Province, near building No. 20 on Hunan Avetisyan Street.

A firefighting and rescue team from the regional emergency management department was dispatched to the scene. It was determined that a collision occurred between a 'Nissan Bluebird' (driver Garik A., born in 1986) and a 'Hyundai' (driver Mkher D., born in 1995). The drivers and passenger Albert H. (born in 1984) were transferred by local forces to Kapan Medical Center, where doctors assessed Mkher D.'s condition as moderate severity, while the others were considered to be in satisfactory condition.

Rescuers managed to extract passenger Mkher S. (born in 1974) from the 'Hyundai' and brought him to the ambulance. He was hospitalized at Kapan Medical Center, where he passed away overnight.

Rescuers also disconnected the vehicle’s battery and closed the gas cylinder valve.
