Mourning Mothers Protest in Front of Government and Meet with Alen Simonyan

Today, mourning mothers dressed in black began a protest in front of the government building. They met with Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, who noted that one of the issues raised during their first meeting had been addressed.

“After we spoke in the parliament, two days later, the people you mentioned were removed from the commission,” he stated.

One of the mothers emphasized that they have requested a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. “Mr. Pashinyan is not at all interested in us. Mr. Simonyan, let me say this: Shouldn't the killing of so many soldiers be stopped? Our demand is that if the cases of our soldiers' deaths were investigated, we wouldn't have 13 casualties today,” she said.

“Mr. Pashinyan needs to meet with us so we can have a serious conversation. This cannot go on; how long must we remain indifferent? Whether it’s Saturday, Sunday, or night, if he has time to distribute books, he should also meet with us. A soldier is more important than a book,” emphasized another citizen.

Listening to the mothers, Alen Simonyan asked them not to shout: “Screaming together won't solve anything. I can convey that you want a meeting; I will pass it on,” he said before leaving.
