Hovik Abrahamyan's Family Applied to Legalize Unauthorized Structure but Was Rejected by City Hall, Karapetyan

The Prime Minister Pashinyan spoke today in the government about the private residences of former high-ranking officials, some of which are illegal, that is, built without building permits. This was reported by Yerevan Mayor's spokesperson Hakob Karapetyan on his Facebook page.

He particularly noted: “Imagine people who have been state officials for decades, and the legality of their incomes is still under significant question, who have also constructed mansions with these suspicious incomes by seizing community land and/or building these houses without permission. This also means that they have not paid property tax to the community and have avoided various state taxes. Essentially, it implies that they have deeply disregarded not only the formal requirements of legality but also the interests of the community and the state. Such individuals have held the highest positions in the country for years.”

“But that’s not all. For example, former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan’s family had applied to the city hall to legalize an unauthorized structure on community land and, after receiving a negative response, attempted to compel the city hall through court to legalize the structure.”
