Criminal Case Launched for Illegal Gathering and Dissemination of Suren Papikyan's Personal Life Secrets
The Special Investigative Service of Armenia has launched a criminal case based on materials prepared regarding articles published on the websites hraparak.am on February 13, 2020, titled "Suren Papikyan Concealed His Conviction" and on lragir.am on February 14, 2020, titled "Suren Papikyan Hinted at Who Leaked His Personal Information." This was reported by the Special Investigative Service of Armenia.
“The criminal case was initiated under Article 144 and Article 308, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, regarding the alleged crime of illegally collecting and storing personal information considered confidential, as well as the illegal dissemination of such information by another party, by a public official abusing their official powers. An investigation is underway,” the SIS official website stated.
It is noteworthy that on February 2, during a live Facebook session, Suren Papikyan reacted to the press publication, urging the police and the NSS to clarify who and how his personal life-related confidential information became grounds for sullying his name. The press publication referred to an incident during his military service in which, according to the mentioned sources, Papikyan allegedly stabbed his commander, for which he had been sentenced to imprisonment but released under amnesty.
In the live session, Papikyan denied that he had stabbed anyone but confirmed that he had been convicted.
