Stabbing in Yerevan: 2 Minors Hospitalized from Rio Mall Area
On February 18, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. At around 21:50, the police department in Arabkir received a report from the "Holy Mother of God" medical center, stating that two minors had been transported there with "stab wounds to the lumbar region and the left side of the back" and "a stab wound to the right inguinal region." According to Shamshyan.com, an operational group from the Arabkir police, headed by department chief Armen Vatyan and deputy chief for operational matters Zorik Avdishov, was dispatched to the hospital.
The injured individuals were identified as 18-year-old Gor G. and 17-year-old Gurgen I., both residents of Nor Hachn in the Kotayk region. Hospital staff informed the police that Gurgen I. was unable to provide an explanation about the incident, while Gor G. was undergoing surgery. While doctors fought to save the injured, which they successfully did, the Arabkir police established that the individuals had been transported from the area of the "Rio Mall" shopping center located at 8 Papazyan Street.
According to G. Shamshyan, personnel from the juvenile affairs and criminal investigation divisions of the Yerevan police, together with investigators from the Arabkir police, conducted necessary operational measures and determined that around 20:30 on the same day, Gor G. and Gurgen I. had argued over personal matters with Yerevan residents 16-year-old Arman S., 16-year-old Albert S., 16-year-old Hamlet M., and 18-year-old Manuk M. During this time, preliminary information suggests that Albert S. inflicted injuries on Gor G. and Gurgen I. using a sharp cutting object he had with him.
According to reports from the photojournalist, Arman S. and Albert S. were taken to the investigating department of the Arabkir police, where they provided explanations about the incident and were subsequently released.
