Russian Newspaper on the Pashinyan-Aliev Debate
Russian newspaper "Argumenty i Fakty" has released a special statement regarding the debate between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev that took place in Munich, where their names were also mentioned.
It is worth noting that Pashinyan stated that an interview with Azerbaijan's former president Ayaz Mutalibov was published in that newspaper, where he asserted that the massacre of Azerbaijanis in Khojalu was organized by Azerbaijani opposition figures to remove Mutalibov from power.
Following Pashinyan's remarks, Aliev responded by saying that many Armenians work in Russian media, implying that Armenians were involved in conveying that information.
"Aliev's comments about the presence of many Armenians in the editorial office of the newspaper are, to put it mildly, not true. This applies to both the current editorial team and the journalistic staff that worked in the 1990s," the newspaper's statement reads.
Moreover, the newspaper addressed Pashinyan's comments and clarified that the publication was not in "Argumenty i Fakty," but in "Nezavisimaya Gazeta." Regardless, the editorial board thanked both leaders for promoting the newspaper on the international stage.
