VIDEO: Major Accident in Yerevan, Injuries Reported
A major car accident occurred in Yerevan today, February 18. Around 01:10, a collision took place in front of house number 8 on Abovyan Street involving a Hyundai vehicle with license plate 72 TT 772, driven by 65-year-old Sargis A., and a Mercedes vehicle with license plate 35 SG 830, driven by 23-year-old Arman H.
According to Shamshyan.com, as a result of the accident, two passengers were injured: Babken Bazunts, a 25-year-old resident of Goris city who was in the Mercedes, and 20-year-old Elina Badalyan, a passenger in the Hyundai. Both were transported to Yerevan’s number 1 university hospital with bodily injuries.
Civilians, along with rescuers and police from Yerevan's Public Security Department, known as the 'Red Berets,' were the first to respond to the injured.
Sources indicate that the driver of the Hyundai and his passenger are students at Yerevan State Medical University’s '1+2' Military Medical Institute.
Rescuers disconnected the vehicles from power, closed the gas cylinders, and secured the area. One of the cars ended up partially inside an under-construction building due to the collision.
