Urartu Loses to Russian Team in Friendly Match
During the training camp in Cyprus, Urartu played its final friendly match against the Russian club Tekstilshchik, representing the Russian Football National League.
The first attack by the Russian club resulted in a goal. Evgeny Marichev opened the scoring with a long-range shot. Towards the end of the first half, Urartu managed to equalize. In the 40th minute, Aram Bareghamyan seized the ball in his half of the field and passed it to Evgeny Kobzarin, initiating a quick counterattack. The Russian player advanced down the left flank and set up Taimuraz Toboey in a striking position. The 24-year-old player leveled the score at 1-1.
As in the first half, the players of Tekstilshchik managed to score quickly in the second half as well. In the 48th minute, Maxim Sidorov found the net. Until the end of the match, both teams created dangerous chances near each other's goals, but no more goals were scored. The final score was Urartu 1, Tekstilshchik 2.
This was the last scheduled match in Cyprus. On February 19, in the late evening, the Urartu squad will return home.
