During its regular session today, February 18, the Constitutional Court recognized a provision of the Police Law as unconstitutional.
The case was based on a petition from the Administrative Court regarding the compliance of the 7th clause of the 1st part of Article 39 of the Law on Service in the Police, which prohibits police officers from being members of religious organizations, with the Constitution.
Once again, Constitutional Court member Vahe Grigoryan was absent from the session. The meeting was attended by Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan and a representative from the National Assembly.
