Prosecutor Rejects Objection on Babloyan and Babayan Cases from Investigative Committee
The prosecutor overseeing the criminal case involving Ara Babloyan and Arsen Babayan has rejected the objection presented by the preliminary investigation body regarding the decision not to confirm the indictment and return the criminal case. This was reported to NEWS.am by Arevik Khachatryan, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia.
It was previously announced that the prosecutor's office had once again not confirmed the indictment in Ara Babloyan's case and had sent it back to the Investigative Committee for further examination.
Recall that based on a request from MP Arman Babajanyan, a criminal case was initiated on October 28 at the Investigative Committee, charging former National Assembly President Ara Babloyan under Articles 300 and 314 of the Criminal Code of Armenia for usurping the powers of the Constitutional Court and for official forgery.
Today, the Prosecutor General's Office has again not confirmed the indictment in Ara Babloyan's case and has sent it back to the Investigative Committee for further investigation, indicating disagreement with the classification of the act. Specifically, according to the prosecutor's office, charges should be brought not for usurping the powers of the Constitutional Court, but for abuse of official powers.
