Rescue Teams Free 26 Vehicles from Snowdrift
On February 17, at 09:37, the National Crisis Management Center received information that vehicles were blocked in a snowdrift on the 4th kilometer of the Jermuk-Gndevaz highway.
It was determined that a section of approximately 500 meters on the Jermuk-Gndevaz highway was impassable due to heavy snow, making the road one-way traffic only.
A total of 23 vehicles were accumulated in the direction towards Jermuk, while 3 vehicles were blocked in the opposite direction.
A rescue team consisting of six firefighters from the Jermuk Fire and Rescue Unit, equipped with a "GAZ-66" all-terrain vehicle (Kung), was dispatched to the scene. The firefighters cleared the roadway with shovels, successfully extracting 26 vehicles and providing necessary assistance to 42 passengers.
The vehicles then continued on their way in the appropriate directions. Two snow-clearing machinery (tractors) were also involved in the roadway cleaning operations.
