Illegal Weapons and Ammunition Handed Over to Police Stations

As a result of the explanatory work conducted by the police of the Yeghgneardzori division, a 42-year-old resident of Gladzor village voluntarily handed over a "Kalashnikov" automatic rifle and more than 10 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. According to him, the weapons and ammunition belonged to his deceased father and were found in the storage room.

On February 14, a 37-year-old man from Jermuk voluntarily handed over a factory-numbered smoothbore rifle, clips for an automatic rifle, grenades, an optical sighting device, and more than 140 rounds of ammunition. He stated that these weapons belonged to his deceased father and were discovered while cleaning the basement.

Thanks to the explanatory efforts of the police in Vardenis, a 59-year-old man from Vardenis voluntarily handed over a factory-numbered pistol, a grenade, and 80 rounds of ammunition that belonged to his deceased uncle.

With the help of community police in Vagharchapat, two cases of voluntary surrender of illegally stored weapons and ammunition were recorded. A 40-year-old resident of Metsamor brought a sawed-off shotgun without a stock, a grenade, clips for an automatic rifle, and more than 110 rounds of ammunition to the police station. He claimed these belonged to his deceased father.

A 62-year-old woman from Gay village also brought a sawed-off shotgun, an anti-tank mine, a detonator, and over 90 rounds of ammunition to the Vagharchapat police station, all of which she found while cleaning the roof.

A 45-year-old man from Armavir city voluntarily surrendered an empty "Shmaiser" type automatic rifle to the Armavir police station, claiming he found it while cleaning the basement of his house. It belonged to his father, who passed away years ago.

Forensic examinations have been appointed. It is worth noting that individuals who voluntarily surrender illegally stored weapons and ammunition are exempt from criminal liability, as stated in the report.
