Water Supply to Specified Addresses to be Restored on February 15

On February 13, at 18:34, the National Crisis Management Center received a report that a water pipeline had been damaged near the village of Vahagndzor on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi highway, with water gushing heavily onto the road.

An operational group from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene. It was determined that rockfall occurred from a nearby cliff at the 20th km of the M-6 interstate highway, causing rock fragments of approximately 2-3 cubic meters (totaling 30-40 cubic meters) to fall and damage the water pipeline (with a diameter of 1000 mm) that supplies Vanadzor city, resulting in damage to a section of the roadway approximately 3 meters wide and 6 meters long, leading to one-way traffic.

Due to the emergency repair work on the pipeline, the water supply to around 60% of Vanadzor city, as well as the villages of Vahagni, Yeghenut, Vahagndzor, Pambak, Gugark, Amrakits, Gyulagarak, Hobardz, Vardablur, Kourtan, Zoragyugh, Zoragetavan, and Antaramut has been halted. It is scheduled to be restored on February 15 at 08:30.

Information regarding the incident has been communicated to representatives of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, the Committee of Urban Development, and the State Inspection for Technical and Fire Safety.

At 01:47, contact was made with the director of “Lori Road Maintenance” LLC, who reported that the highway has been cleared and traffic has been restored.
