Snow Falls in 5 Regions of Armenia, Roads Closed and Difficult to Traverse
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 13 at 14:30, there are closed and difficult-to-traverse roads within the territory of Armenia.
The roads leading to Amberd Fortress and the Kary Lake in Aragatsotn Province and the Vardenyats Pass are closed. The Sotk-Karvachar road (for trucks) is difficult to traverse, as well as the road from the Sevan Peninsula to the village of Dzovakhuyn and the roads in the regions of Amasia and Ashotsk in Shirak Province.
There are patches of black ice on the roads of Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Lori, and Syunik provinces, particularly on the Sisian-Goris road in Syunik Province, as well as the Kuchak-Aparan and Dzaghkahovit road connections in Aragatsotn Province.
Snow is falling in Kotayk, Ararat provinces, in Talin and Ashtarak of Aragatsotn Province, in the Ashotsk region of Shirak Province, and in Jermuk and Vayk cities of Vayots Dzor Province, along the Saravan-‘Zanger’ section.
According to information received from Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and the crisis management center of North Ossetia’s Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed only for trucks with trailers. The crisis management center from Russia reported that there are over 1,000 trucks accumulated on the Russian side.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
