Appeal Filed Against the Decision to Detain 'Shmaysi's' Son

The decision by the court to select detention as a measure against Davit Movsisyan, the son of former Armenian MP Arakel Movsisyan, has been appealed. This was reported to 'Factinfo' by Davit Movsisyan's lawyer, Ashot Apresyan.

Previously, it was announced that the first instance court had approved the request to detain Movsisyan while also noting that the decision to arrest him was unlawful.

It is worth reminding that the last case resulting in a death under peaceful conditions was recorded on January 30. A soldier from the armed forces, Vahram Mkrtich Avagyan, born in 2000, died from a gunshot wound at one of the military units operating under the command of the Defense Army. The Investigative Committee has classified the incident as suicide and opened a criminal case under Article 110, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, which pertains to inducing suicide. According to the version presented by the Investigative Committee, the soldier fired his weapon at his chest.

Relatives do not believe in the suicide theory. They argue that the murder has been presented as suicide and on February 2, they marched with the coffin of the slain soldier towards Yerevan in protest.

After a meeting with Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, the relatives of the deceased soldier suspended their protest action.

It should also be noted that Auroranews has covered the incident, providing remarkable details regarding what is happening in that military unit.
