Identity of the Person Responsible for the Murder of a 57-Year-Old Man Revealed

The identity of the individual responsible for the alleged murder of a 57-year-old resident of Vanadzor has been revealed as a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions carried out by the Lori Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

As previously reported, on February 5, 2020, a resident of Vanadzor discovered her husband's body in their property, showing signs of violence, which prompted her to notify the police.

Following a comprehensive, complete, and objective investigation into the criminal case initiated regarding the incident, it was determined that the alleged murder was not committed by the 20-year-old individual who had been arrested on suspicion of the crime but rather by a 32-year-old resident of the same city. This individual had initially falsely accused the 20-year-old in his witness statement before fleeing the scene.

A decision has been made to terminate criminal proceedings against the 20-year-old due to the absence of the crime, while the 32-year-old man is now facing charges under Articles 104 (Murder) and 333 (False Accusation) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He has been placed under arrest, and a nationwide manhunt has been declared for him.

The investigation is ongoing.
