Husband Has Forced Wife for Years to Engage in Sexual Relations with Strangers for Money

On February 10, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, operatives from various police departments, including the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police, the Department for Combating Human Trafficking, and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Malatia Police, acted upon operational information and subsequently invited a 33-year-old resident of Yerevan, H. M., to the Malatia police station.

According to G. Shamshyan's reports, she informed the police that from April 2016 until February of this year, her husband, 31-year-old Enza Davtyan, had repeatedly forced her to engage in sexual relations with strangers under threats and physical violence, demanding the money received to be handed over to him.

In connection with the incident, materials are being prepared at the investigative department of the Malatia Police. A forensic medical examination has been appointed at the investigator's decision. The police are taking the necessary operational-search measures to locate Enza D., after which it will be determined whether the information provided by H. M. corresponds to reality.
