20 million drams stolen from the currency exchange point in 'Ashtarak' supermarket

The Investigative Committee of Armenia's Aragatsotn province has launched a criminal case characterized by robbery, as announced by investigator Khulghatyan. According to Shamshyan.com, the case was initiated on February 9, following a robbery in the city of Ashtarak.

Reports indicate that at around 10:00 AM, a 57-year-old resident of Ashtarak, identified as Samvel A., reported to the local police that during the night of the incident, between 01:00 and 06:00 AM, an unknown individual or individuals used technical means to break the glass door of the 'Ashtarak' supermarket located at 33/2 Tigran Mets Street, entered the premises, and subsequently opened the entrance door of the currency exchange point with technical devices, stealing a metal non-combustible safe that contained approximately 20 million drams according to photojournalist sources.

The media notes that a citizen witnessed the entire event and, considering the interests of the investigation, their details are not being disclosed at this time. The witness confronted the thief or thieves, after which the culprits assaulted the citizen and fled the scene.

According to information from Auroranews, the 'Ashtarak' supermarket belongs to the mayor of Ashtarak, Tovmas Shahverdyan.
