VIDEO: Major Drug Trafficking Case Uncovered
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia has uncovered another case of illegal drug importation of particularly large quantities, following urgent operational and investigative measures aimed at revealing the routes of illegal drug importation and holding accountable those involved in criminal schemes.
According to the obtained factual data, a citizen of the Republic of Armenia residing in the Russian Federation illegally acquired particularly large amounts of methadone and cocaine at the request of two acquaintances living in Yerevan. He concealed the drugs in a hideout made within an electric saw and on January 25, 2020, transferred them in a bag to the driver of a minibus engaged in freight transportation heading to Armenia, providing him with the buyers' phone numbers.
As a result, secretly bringing the mentioned batch of drugs into the country, it was imported into the Republic of Armenia via the Bagratashen border checkpoint on February 3, 2020. The drug orderers, under the supervision of the operational units of the NSS of Armenia, received the luggage on February 3, and illegally transported it to a space used as a gathering place, after which they were apprehended and arrested.
A criminal case has been initiated within the framework of the investigation conducted by the NSS Investigative Department based on the articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia regarding the apparent crimes, and operational-investigative measures and investigative actions have resulted in a combination of undeniable evidence of the crime, with a pre-investigation underway.
