Shots Fired in Lori Province: Circumstances of the Murder Being Investigated

According to preliminary data, on February 9, 2020, around 18:20, an individual, allegedly involved in a criminal act, opened fire towards four residents of Lori Province on Hambardzumyan Street in Vanadzor, intending to kill, using illegally obtained firearms, and then fled the scene.

The individuals who sustained gunshot wounds were transported to a medical center, two of whom, residents of Vanadzor born in 1990, died en route.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Lori Provincial Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee under the first and sixth clauses of the second part of Article 104 and part one of Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code.

At the same time, on the same day, around 18:10, a report was received from the Lori Provincial Rescue Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations regarding a car on fire on Barekamutyun Street in Vanadzor. As a result of the measures taken, the identity of the person under whose name the vehicle was registered was established.

During the inspection of the scene, an AK-74 type rifle was found inside the vehicle, in a burned state, along with 26 fired cartridges of 5.45 caliber, five deformed cartridges of the same caliber, five bullets of the same caliber, and two empty magazines, one of which was also burned.

A series of investigative actions have been carried out, including seizures, and forensic, complex forensic-technical, and forensic ballistics examinations have been commissioned.
