No, no what to continue. The soldier rescued from the avalanche recounts the incident

On February 7, in the protective section of military unit N in the Syunik region, a group of contracted soldiers became trapped under an avalanche while heading back to the military unit from their positions, near the trenches. This was recounted by Hamlet Mirzoyan, the only surviving contracted soldier out of the four trapped under the snow. Mirzoyan was recently discharged from the hospital and stated that he is feeling better now.

“My entire body had been crushed. No matter how much I tell you what I felt or what I did at that moment, you won’t be able to imagine it,” he said.

He explained that they had fallen under a very thick layer of snow and could not get out. “We were coming down from our positions to the barracks. The avalanche did not come from above, but the snow layer opened up beneath our feet, and we fell into it. No matter how much we shouted, there was no response. I had already lost hope when they found us. They found me by my screams. The snow layer was very deep; we couldn’t climb up.”

When asked when he plans to return to service, he stated that he would not continue his service. “No, no, what to continue. I will be leaving; my heart can’t take it. I have lost many close friends; I am very disappointed.”

Earlier, it was reported that as a result of the search and rescue operations, contracted soldiers who had been trapped under the avalanche were found, including the bodies of Private Karapet Sedraki Nazaryan (born in 1991, served in the armed forces since 2018, Kashatagh military unit), Junior Sergeant Tigran Armen Arzumanyan (born in 1994, served in the armed forces since 2018, Syunik military unit), and Junior Sergeant Nver Tigrani Shahbazyan (born in 1995, served in the armed forces since 2018, Syunik military unit).

Contracted soldier, Private Hamlet Grenik Mirzoyan (born in 1998, served in the armed forces since 2018, Syunik military unit) was successfully rescued from the avalanche. The discovered soldier has sustained minor injuries, and his health condition is assessed as satisfactory. An investigation is being conducted to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
