Traffic Police Investigator Detained for Receiving Bribe
The Main Criminal Police Department's Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Unit, along with officers from the Mush Division in Gyumri, have uncovered facts indicating corruption in a road traffic accident case. On January 17, following an incident on Marmarashen Highway in Gyumri that resulted in bodily harm, it was determined that a criminal case prepared by the 2nd Company of the 2nd Battalion of the Traffic Police had been dismissed.
Subsequently, one investigator from the same company demanded a bribe of 50,000 AMD from the driver to return his driver's license and vehicle technical passport, threatening him with penalties if he refused. On February 7, the investigator was apprehended immediately after receiving the demanded amount. During a personal search, the bribe of 50,000 AMD was found and confiscated from him. The police captain has been arrested.
A criminal case has been initiated at the police station and has been forwarded to the Special Investigative Service.
